Forty Days for Life
The Edwardsville Knights of Columbus council participates twice annually in the Forty Days for Life campaign at the Hope Clinic for Women. During this day our members pray the rosary for the end of abortion from 7:00am- 7:00pm in one-hour shifts. Additional information regarding these events will be provided as scheduling details become available.

Intellectual Disabilities Drive
Council 1143 conducts its annual Tootsie Roll Drive each September, a major charitable effort dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.** Funds collected during this drive directly benefit organizations such as the BeDell Center (ARC), NAMI of Madison County, and Special Olympics.
This initiative relies on a strong volunteer turnout — members and parish families gather donations outside local stores, while additional volunteers assist in the office with fund counting and administrative support. Together, these efforts make the drive one of the council’s most impactful community service projects.
March for Life
Each year, members of Edwardsville Knights of Columbus Council 1143 travel to Springfield, Illinois to meet with state legislators, join the march at the Capitol, and offer their support and prayers for the protection of unborn children. This annual gathering reflects our council’s commitment to advocacy, faith, and the dignity of human life.
Rosary for Life
Edwardsville Council 1143 observes a monthly devotion dedicated to praying the Rosary for the end of abortion. This gathering is held on the second Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m.
From May through October, the rosary is prayed at the Hope Clinic for Women, located at 1602 21st Street, Granite City. From November through April, the devotion is conducted at St. Mary’s Church, 1802 Madison Avenue, Edwardsville.
Pregnancy Center Support
Councill 1143 has long committed to supporting life‑affirming ministries in our community, including ThriVe Metro East and A Beacon of Light Pregnancy Help Center.
ThriVe Metro East provides no‑cost, confidential care through a dedicated team of medical professionals and advocates who accompany women step‑by‑step through their decisions. Clients can schedule appointments quickly, receive support without insurance, and access compassionate guidance when they need it most.
A Beacon of Light (ABL) Pregnancy Help Center is a life‑affirming resource serving pregnant women, families facing unplanned pregnancies, and post‑abortive women seeking healing. Their services include pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, miscarriage comfort, peer counseling, and referrals to life‑affirming physicians for prenatal and postpartum care. ABL also offers essential material support—food, formula, and baby items—and promotes Christian values of chastity, integrity, and self‑discipline.
